Elizabeth Race, Ph.D.

Dr. Race is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology. At Tufts, she directs the ICoN lab and teaches a range of courses including Cognitive Neuroscience, Brain & Behavior, the graduate Core Course in Neuroscience, Introduction to Psychology, and a seminar entitled "Memory, Mental Simulation, & the Brain." Dr. Race received her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Stanford University and her B.S. in Biology from Duke University. Following her Ph.D., Dr, Race completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Memory Disorders Research Center at the VA Boston Healthcare System.

David DiStefano
Graduate Student, Psychology & Cognitive Science Ph.D. Program
David graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2015 with a BS in Electrical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. His academic interests revolve around using bio-feedback technologies to promote conscious learning and behavior. Before coming to Tufts, David worked several jobs in industry including jobs at Vicor Corporation, Amazon Robotics and Hitachi Data Systems. His most inspiring work experience, though, was at UMass Medical School where he worked with several doctors in the Neurology department to collect EEG data and assess the brainwave patterns of persons with epilepsy. In his spare time, David enjoys reading, windsurfing, hiking, yoga and martial arts.
Himanshu Chaudhary
Graduate Student, Psychology Ph.D. Program

Himanshu earned his B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles. During his time at UCLA and working as a lab manager at UC Davis, he worked on a multitude of projects ranging from scaffolding of memory in older adults to modeling learning in the brain. Here at Tufts, he aims to continue his study of memory and the brain in older adults by looking for ways to tackle the cognitive deficits that comes with growing older as well as pursue his interest in the effects of technology on cognition to produce research that can be applied to the day to day lives of his subjects.

Hannah Guglin
Research Assistant, Former Lab Manager
Hannah is an undergraduate student at Tufts majoring in Biopsychology with minors in Chemistry and Russian. She is interested in the neurological processes underlying learning and memory and how they relate to neuroplasticity. Outside of the lab, Hannah enjoys singing, solving rubik's cubes, assembling jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with friends.
Josh Keough
Research Assistant
Josh is a senior undergraduate student at Tufts studying to receive a B.S. in Biopsychology. He is interested in both the psychological and neurological processes that influence cognition, memory, and consciousness. Outside of academics, Josh enjoys spending time with friends, making and listening to music, playing basketball, and exploring the outdoors. He is currently partaking in research with the ICoN Lab involving Cognitive Function and Parkinson's Disease.
Emma Cozzi
Research Assistant
Emma is an undergraduate at Tufts pursuing a BS in Cognitive and Brain Sciences with a minor in Computer Science. She is especially interested in memory, neuroimaging, and the psychology and cognition of music. Outside of the lab, Emma enjoys spending time rock climbing, polar plunging, making art and doing trivia with her friends.

Sophia graduated in 2024 from Tufts with a BS in Cognitive and Brain Sciences. She is interested in understanding how our minds are able to create and function within our conscious experience. Outside the lab, she misses her cat, Mr. Bubs who's back in Texas with her family and loves exploring nature.

Roxanne Oh is an undergraduate student at Tufts majoring in Biopsychology with a minor in Music. She is interested in music cognition and the neurological processes involved in memory encoding. Outside of the lab, Roxanne enjoys playing field hockey, watching TV shows, and spending time with friends and family.
